Rainfall activity picked up during the week. Widespread rainfall reported over East, Northeast India and south peninsula during many days and over northwest India during a few days of the week.
The season’s rainfall departure from normal for the country as a whole reduced slightly from the last week’s -13% to -14%. RAINFALL
Widespread rainfall occurred over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala during most days, over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during many days, over Assam & Meghalaya and Lakshadweep during a few days and over Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka during one or two days of the week.
Fairly widespread rainfall occurred over West Madhya Pradesh and Lakshadweep during many days, over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, East Madhya Pradesh and South Interior Karnataka during a few days and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat State, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka during one or two days of the week. Rainfall was excess/normal in 26 and deficient/scanty in 10 out of 36 Meteorological sub-divisions. (Actual: 311.2 mm, Normal: 359.9 mm and Departure: -14 %).
Outlook for the week ending on 28th July, 2010
Widespread rainfall activity would continue along west coast during the week.
A low pressure area is likely to form over northwest & adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal around 24th July.
Fairly widespread rain is likely over northeastern States during the week and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and East Madhya Pradesh during 2nd half of the week.
