Campaign to promote Weekly Tapping

Details : The Rubber Board, in co-operation with Rubber Producers Societies is organizing an awareness campaign to promote weekly tapping among rubber growers. The programme entitled ‘ Weekly tapping; Without any yield decrease’ will be inaugurated by Mr. A. Ajithkumar IAS, Chairman, Rubber Board in a meeting at Chirakkadavu Model Rubber Producers’ Society, Kanjirappally on 10 June 2016 at 10 a.m. The campaign is scheduled to be conducted in the traditional rubber growing belt of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka from 10 June 2016 to 22 July 2016. The Board is promoting weekly tapping as tapping cost can be reduced by two thirds compared to tapping on alternate days. Weekly tapping, to an extent, is a solution for labour shortage also. While adopting once a week tapping, it is necessary to apply an yield stimulant. Ethephon, a comparatively safe plant growth regulator, is used as the yield stimulant. A documentary film on weekly tapping prepared by P&PR Division of the Board will also be released in the function. The Rubber Board is starting a Call Centre to work as a centralized contact centre for attending to telephone calls from the public seeking information about the services of the Board and technical advice. The Chairman will also inaugurate this facility in the function.
